My Coaching Approach

At the heart of my work is a simple belief:

Every person I work with is already capable, thoughtful, and full of potential. My role is to help you access that more consistently — especially in the areas that feel hardest.

A Partnership, Not a Prescription

Coaching with me is not about being told what to do.

It is a collaborative process — one where we:

  • explore what matters most to you

  • uncover patterns that may be holding you back

  • build practical, personalised ways forward

I work in a non-directive, co-active style, meaning you are always at the centre of the process.
At the same time, I bring structure, insight, and — when helpful — practical tools to support progress.

Grounded, Calm, and Practical

My approach is often described as:

  • calm

  • thoughtful

  • grounded

  • quietly challenging

I create a space where you can think clearly, speak honestly, and reflect without pressure or judgement.

Alongside this, I bring a pragmatic focus on real life — helping you translate insight into action in a way that feels manageable and sustainable.

A Safe Space to Think and Feel

Many of the people I work with are used to being capable, high-functioning, and relied upon by others — but may not always have a space to process their own thoughts and experiences.

Creating that space is fundamental to my work.

I place a strong emphasis on:

  • psychological safety

  • trust

  • empathy

  • genuine curiosity

This allows you to explore challenges, emotions, and patterns openly — without fear of judgement.

Strengths-Based and Forward-Focused

While we will absolutely explore challenges, my work is rooted in a strengths-based perspective.

This means:

  • recognising what already works for you

  • building from your natural strengths

  • reframing perceived “weaknesses” as differences in how your brain works

This is particularly important in ADHD coaching, where many individuals have spent years focusing on what they find difficult — often overlooking their creativity, insight, resilience, and problem-solving ability.

ADHD & Neurodiversity-Informed

My approach is deeply informed by both professional training and personal experience.

As a parent of children with ADHD, I bring:

  • genuine understanding

  • empathy

  • lived insight

Alongside this, I draw on evidence-based approaches to help clients:

  • understand how their brain works

  • develop practical strategies

  • build confidence and self-awareness

I believe that ADHD is not a deficit — it is a different way of processing the world.
When understood and supported well, it can become a significant strength.

Balancing Insight with Action

Insight alone is not enough — change comes from what happens next.

In our work together, we focus on:

  • building awareness

  • creating clarity

  • taking meaningful, realistic action

This may include:

  • working through emotional regulation

  • addressing self-limiting beliefs

  • improving focus, time management, or decision-making

  • developing systems that actually work for you

Where appropriate, I may also incorporate elements of:

  • coaching frameworks

  • behavioural strategies

  • NLP-informed tools

Always in a way that feels tailored — never prescriptive.

Human, Warm, and Engaging

While coaching can be deep and reflective, it should never feel heavy or intimidating.

I bring a sense of:

  • warmth

  • perspective

  • and at times, lightness and humour

Particularly when working with teenagers or families, I believe that engagement, curiosity, and even playfulness can unlock powerful insights and progress.

A Commitment to Growth — Yours and Mine

I am deeply committed to ongoing learning — continually developing my skills, knowledge, and approach so I can offer the highest level of support to my clients.

At the same time, I hold a clear belief:

You are not “broken” — and you do not need fixing.

You may need:

  • new ways of working

  • better understanding of yourself

  • and the right support structures

And that is what we build together.

In Summary

My coaching is:

  • Collaborative — we work as partners

  • Calm and grounded — creating space to think clearly

  • Practical — focused on real-life application

  • Strengths-based — building on what already works

  • ADHD-informed — understanding how your brain operates

  • Human — warm, thoughtful, and engaging

The goal is not to change who you are.
It is to help you work with yourself more effectively — and move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
